Acer won't boot and no display, what's my first move. Tried different power supply, power button lights up and cd drive for just a second. Thanks Michael

    Greetings, Hornnumb2...

Try re-seating/cleaning/swapping any RAM modules (use anti-static precautions, especially now that the weather's turning cooler) - check/re-seat all connections - try unplugging all unnecessary components and start from scratch - verify that processor heatsink fan runs.

Visually inspect everything, especially the motherboard - look for any obvious burn tracks, scorch marks, bulging or leaking capacitors, etc.

Try booting to the machine's BIOS - if successful, verify that everything is being recognized and that safe setup defaults are loaded.

Only has one ram, re seated it unplugged HD and tried to boot, monitor stays in sleep mode. Can't get to Bios because monitor never comes out of sleep. Hard drive does spin up. Thanks Michael

Do you have a video card or are you using the onboard chip?
Have you tried another monitor to rule out a problem with the monitor?

Yes on board video, I have tried different monitors. It the small form factor so no slots to plug external card into. Thanks

Would a usb to vga adapter work to just check the video part? Michael

Just got around to messing with this thing again. Found a post online about bios battery dead and won't boot...Bingo! we have a winner. I would have never thought a dead battery would cause it not to boot. I wanted to update this in case others have this problem. Thanks Michael

I had this problem with a jetway motherboard a few years ago, thanks for coming back and letting us know.

Had the same problem, fixed it by replacing the Newson CR2032 battery. works fine again. Thanks for the info.
