Acondata external backup

    "I am helping a friend who has a compaq laptop computer - using an external backup acomdata drive, The computer recognized the cd-part, but did not recognize the hd-part. The user manual had nothing in it regarding this. Is there a manual process to use in order for the computer to " recognize the hd-part ?
