ACPI Fixed Feature Buttons not working

Hey folks... I have an Asus N61VN notebook running Windows 7. Everything with the unit is working fine except for one thing, the fixed feature buttons at the top left of the keyboard (volume up/down, mute, play/pause) are not working. When I checked it out in the device manager, it's there under System Devices, and the Device Status says that it's working properly... But I can't get it to respond. I checked the Asus website for newer drivers, but can't find anything. I also checked to see if it could be enabled/disabled either through windows, or through the BIOS, but was unable to find anything there either. Has anybody ever come across something like this? Thanks.

 

I'm not familiar with your exact computer but most laptops either need a service running to activate their "hotkeys" or you need to hold the "Fn" key down while controlling the volume or other hardware control keys.

 

Got it solved. The issue was this... The computer had been wiped using the recovery partition that came installed on the HDD. When it reinstalled windows it also (supposedly) reinstalled all the required drivers. It did not install the hotkey drivers. For whatever reason though, it was not showing up yellow in the device manager, so I assumed everything was installed and good to go. Anyway.... I went to the Asus website and looked around some more, finding the hotkey driver. Fixed it right up.
