I have Dell Dimension 8400, P4 3.4 Ghz, 1GB Ram, 250GB HD, XP Pro SP2, of which I did a clean install myself after purchasing system w/ XP Home Ed. online from Dell. Other than that, I'm just a novice, but like to ask questions.

I often get a nuisance error that reads:
    Acrobat IEHelper: Explorer.exe Application Error
    exception (0X0eedfade) @ loc. 0x7c81eb33.

Though I can usually just click through it, then another message pops up that reads:

    "Runtime Error 217 @ XXXXXXXX"

and I "OK" out of that one.

Do I need to worry about these, and how can I correct the problem?

    TIA- Agape

Might be one of the Add-ons, try this:

    Go to IE/ Tools /Manage Add-ons...
and disable Solid Converter PDF. If that doesn't work then it is one of the other add-ons. Disable each one in succession and after each close IE, restart, and close again to see if the that one worked.

Steve - thanks for the tip.
I changed the setting right away in IE. There was only one add-on to disable. I'll watch it for a few days and see if that error shows up again. It seemed to be intermittent, so I never paid much attention as to what exactly may have triggered it. Geeks Rock!

Re: Acrobat IEHElper error "morphed" to Explorer.exe error

So the error popped up again. This time I noticed it happened after I spent some time shifting files between hard drives- primary to secondary and v.v.

    This time is says:
Explorer.exe Application Error .....(Acrobat IEHelper prefix gone)
    exception 0X0eedfade) @ loc. 0x7c81eb33.

I click through it, then another message pops up that reads:

    "Runtime Error 217 @ ZZZZZZZ"

and I "OK" out of that one.

I checked the IE/Toools/Manage Add-ons, but don't recognize anything that looks suspect. (not that I would) Maybe this is Windoze Explorer issue rather than Internet Explorer like last time?

    Any other suggestions appreciated.- agape

What was the add-on you disabled? Was it the Solid Converter PDF?

The only other thing I can think of or find is spyware maybe. Might not hurt to check that out. You can start at the link below and ask for help if you are still having problems.

You might get some other suggestions in the meantime.

Thanks for the answer. Sorry for the long delay. I've been sick.

Truth is, I disabled the one that had Adobe name in it--AcroIEHlprObj Class, by Acrobat.

I know it wasn't exactly what you named, but it seemed to make a difference in the message I get.

What would happen if I started disabling some of the other add-ons? I'm just afraid to do something that I can't undo easily.

I'll try the other forum, too.

    Thanks again- agape!
