I run Windows XP Home 2002
    Dell Dimension DIM4600 Intel (R)
    Pentium (R) 4 CPU 2.66GHz
    512 MB of RAM

I have cable. I did download service pack 2 at one point but little odd things happened so I removed it through the ad/remove programs.

I'm not sure where to post this so tell me where to go if you want :D

I thought it was maybe virus or adware so I did all the things listed in "DO NOT POST UNTIL YOU HAVE READ THIS" in the spyware part of the forums. (except the hijaack and removing java)

    Everything came up clean.

Ok this is a 2 part question:

Problem #1 has been happening for a while, it seemed to start after dl and removing service pack 2. It doesn't seem to do anything but annoy me so I ignored it. Problem #2 just showed up when I tried to switch scanners.

    1. When I close explorer I occasionally get this message in a box that has a red circle with a white "x" on it..it reads: (Heading)Acrobat: IEHelper: iexplore.exe - Application Error
(Body)The instruction at "0x1a40e6be" referenced memory at "0x01d76c54". The memory could not be "read"

    2. When trying to run my cd to install software for a scanner I get:
    (Heading)16 bit Windows Subsystem
(Body)C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The System file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

SO I CAN'T INSTALL THE SOFTWARE! I can open the cd and double click the install and get the same message.

Thanks in advance for any help, Jena

    Hi Jena,

#1. You might try reinstalling Adobe Acrobat, if that doesn't solve the problem I would continue with the Spyware info, it might be Adobe Acrobat BHO and they can help you with that issue.

#2. This should solve your scanner issue, http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;324767
