I'm trying to reinstall Adobe Acrobat after getting my PC fixed. Thought I might as well upgrade so it's Acrobat 9 Pro I'm trying to install. Each time I try I keep getting a message that there's an original program, Acrobat 8 installed but I'm d....d if I can find it! Then I get a message;"Error 1606 - Could not access network location\startup which I seem to have resolved only to get another new message; "Internal Error 2753 - updater.api"

I was really hoping it would be that simple but no such luck! Now getting message "Internal Error 2753 - update.api" ??

Thanks for the idea though,,,can't do any harm anyways?:

Have you run CCleaner to clean out any Acrobat 8 remnants in the registry?

Get a good registry cleaner app fom MG and run it. Then try again. If you are confident of your abilities, go into the registry, back it up by exporting, and look for entries labeled Adobe in the software sections of HKLM and HKCU.

Get a good registry cleaner app fom MG and run it. Then try again. If you are confident of your abilities, go into the registry, back it up by exporting, and look for entries labeled Adobe in the software sections of HKLM and HKCU. Find the entry labeled "Reader", open it and see whether there is a folder under it named with the number you had, but do not have any more. If there is, delete it. This will remove all the entries relating to the old reader. Then, install the new one. DON'T forget to back up the registry!!

I would also get Revo Uninstaller to avoid this problem in the future. It's free and it works perfectly. I have not had a single problem with it in three years.

    Good Luck

    Pete
