My first operation was a failure. I have 2 partitions and one is too small , the other too big so.. enter the disc director. I used the wizard to take from Peter and give to Paul and obey the reboot order. My log file says everything worked successfully but....you guessed it, no change in partition sizes.

The only thing I noted was that one of the partitions shows up with a little red flag on it within the program.

What gives? I spent fifty bucks just to do that one operation! :cry

The red flag just denotes your active partition on the disk probably your OS partition. It doesn't effect the partition resizing operation.

I've used Disk Director about 15 times to resize partitions, but have never had a major problem. There is one part at the end where it says synchronizing with Operating System. I'm wondering if something happened at that step?

I usually use manual mode rather than wizard but just ran through the wizard and everything looks about the same. I can only suggest trying again and reading the screen as the operations complete to see how it is proceeding and check that it mentions synchronizing with the OS.

I contacted Acronis and was instucted to remove my existing copy of the program and install another one from the registered members area of their site. This I did with the same result ie. no results.

I then was instructed to comletely remove Acronis Disk Director from my PC in this manner:

Download and run the Windows CleanUp utility and select the Acronis program and hit remove. This I did but when next instructed to use the DiscCleanUp wizard to empty my Temp file I couldn't find this wizard so I emptied the folder manually.

After I noticed that my program was still there and could be opened. So I went to Add-Remove files in the control panel and the programis no longer showing there. Strange because it was still on my PC.

Then I D-Loaded an update which I hoped to install overtop of my existing program. (The tech must have assumed that all traces of the pre-existing program would be gone.)

This was a mistake because now the program is still there but cannot even be opened. Instead I get an error message.

What do you think is going on here?
