I was just at Acronis site and read that people are having trouble recovering with this buid. There is no update but a person said the resolve is to uninstall Acronis remove the registry keys and instal 1.029.
I cannot maneuver the registry, do not know about the reliability of the post and have been told not to recover a healthy system.
My rescuedisc finds the backup but I have not recovered yet.
Should I use Revo to uninstall Acronis and install another build or try a recovery or??

perterr - can you copy and paste the text you are concerned about please. I use ATI 2010 and have complete faith in it, but I would like to see the actual problem that was reported. BTW your build 6053 was superceded ages ago and you should be using build 7046 which you can download from the Acronis site once you have registered.

Having said that, you really shouldn't get too concerned by ppl posting about problems with ATI as they have been doing so for years, including yours truly! If your image validates, and if you can see both the source and target drives when booted to the CD you really don't have anything at all to be concerned about.

When I visit the Acronis site, I look look over the updates and do not see any for my version or build.
    Where should I be looking?
Macrium free tells me when there is a patch or update.
Am I not enabling Acronis to do the same?
I will see if I can copy the post i read while I go back and see if I can find an update for my build.
If I do update, I should then make a new rescue disc and a new backup, I would assume.

Have you registered at Acronis? You won't have access to updates until you do. Acronis doesn't tell you there is a later build available, you have to go look.

Here's where you log in -

    https://www.acronis.co.uk/my/index.html

After updating to 7046 yes, you should make a new rescue CD, but it isn't necessary to make a new backup. However you should make a new backup at least once a month, as old backups aren't really of much use.

I just studied the Acronis site and when I logged in I was confused.
The build you mention, 7046 was displayed. I downloaded to desktop and was presented with 4 choices. tech support, manual, download data and lastly to check for updates. I clicked on check for updates and it said there were none.
I am sorry I could not filter through and find that other irrelevant post.
Do I make the new rescue disc at the Acronis site where it says bootable media or with the new updated program?
Should I have clicked on "download data" even though it said there were no updates? Then with the newly updated program, create the new rescue disc?
Btw, i registered when I bought the product, 'Aronis True Image Home 20120.'

You need to click the + sign to the left of your product to see the download, not how it used to be and not too obvious either. See pic.

Download to desktop and run the installer, and once you have it installed run the Create Rescue Disk menu item.

    >>The Capture.GIf spun but did not enlarge, fyi, but thank you.
I logged into Acronis, checked my seriel number and downloaded to desktop. I then clicked to install data to my machine. Next I created a rescue disc from the new build.
I was able to find the path of the 2 old backups and a new one I created with the new build.
    Seems ok so far.
I will periodically check for updates now.
Thank a lot for all your help.

    That's odd, works here OK
I wouldn't waste your time peterr, there won't be any more new builds for 2010 now 2011 is out ;)
    You're welcome.
