I'm going to do a clean install and have a backup image on Acronis.

Can I mount the backup image after install and xsfer the programs on the backup image to the new install?

Unfortunately not. Your software will have to be reinstalled too.

If you to a clean install then load the Acronis image, everything that is on the image (programs and files) will be usable just as they were when the image was made. I have had to restore Acronis images to computers.

There wouldn't be any point plodr in installing first and then restoring an image, as the image would completely overwrite the clean install and put the system back to how it was when the image was created. Of course, going back to that point might be an improvement on whatever state it's in now to warrant a fresh install.

    Maybe I wasn't clear.

What I thought i could do after the clean install, would be to mount the previous image and launch programs from there.

Guess what I'm just trying to is not possible.:cry

I'll just mount the image and at least have a reference point to download the programs to the clean install.:(

Well, it's a novel idea, I must give you that! Haven't ever seen that suggested, not here, not at Acronis, not anywhere! :major

But it won't work, sorry :cry

That's what I meant - not launching programs from image.

I'm getting myself crazy trying to figure out the best way.:-D

Not really sure now what you are hoping to do, but up to now on one has found a way to transfer programs from an image to a new install. The only way is still from the installation media/files.

What I did was copy the Start Menu to an external hdd and after the clean install I viewed that page in order to see what I needed to reinstall.

Seemed the easiest way to get everything back.
