actbar2.ocx

I have just installed some software on my Windows 8 laptop,when I try to run the software,by right click RUN HAS ADMINISTRATOR,i get the error message,actbar2.ocx or one of its dependencies is not correctly registered or a file is missing or invalid.i have installed lots of software my laptop.but this is the first time I have seen this error message.anyone know how I can get this software to start up.Thank You.Cumbrian

 

What is the name of the program you are trying to run? More than one program uses that actbar2.ocx.

 

mdonha thanks for your reply.The software is Deepsky its Astronomy software,has I said I have not had trouble installing software before on my Windows 8 laptop.Thank You.Cumbrian

 

You can try some of the suggestions in the last post regarding Deepsky located here. It's from March, 14 2011 but may be helpful.

 

mdonah thanks again.i installed the software on my old Win XP machine it installed and works perfect on that,i also installed it on my wifes Win 7 laptop it installed and works perfect on that,i checked out the link you gave me but did not fell confident enough to try some of the ideas out,if I can't sort it in the next couple of days I will forget about it on my Win 8 laptop and use it on my Win XP pc,which is not ideal has I want to take my laptop out to my telescope.Thanks.Cumbrian
