For security purposes, I have been looking for a program that will completly wipe my computer's HD. Came across 'Active KillDisk' in the MajorGeeks list of 'Drive Cleaners'. Checked out the KillDisk website and it looks easy enough but was curious if anyone has had any issues with the program? Any problems reinstalling the OS after running the program? Any tips or suggestions when using the program?
The KillDisk website says in the FAQ "4.7. Will I be able to use my Hard Disk Drive after Active@ KillDisk erase operation?
To be able to use HDD again you need to:
repartition HDD using standard utility like FDISK
reformat partitions using standard utility like FORMAT
reinstall Operating System using bootable CD-ROM or floppy"

Will I need to follow all these steps or can I immediatley reinstall the OS after the KillDisk operation is done?
One last question...should I run it more than once?
    Thanks!

Yes, you should be able to install your new OS just fine, as long as the new OS has a partition manager. 2k, and xp (vista also) has this.

Another decent (I've been using this more and more) program is DBAN.

This is long overdue, but...Thanks for the advice, theefool! I am actually going to try your recommendation (DBAN) instead of Active KillDisk.
