Active X controls??

I had something major happen this afternoon , my whole computer somehow ( i have kids, so enough said) restored itself , now im getting messages saying something about active x controls as well as none of my desktop things are on here, tons of other things, and to make it worse i dont have my restart disk and i did the restore and that didnt work , also says C\documents and settings\owner\m documents is not accessable ACCESS IS DENIED
What in the world does this mean , someone please let me know fast before i go nuts,
also i cant download anything and i really need yahoo messenger bad bad bad
