Hello, read on article on this board by chaslang on the above he recommend that change the security settings to these:
) Adjust Active X security settings
    - In Internet Explorer, click Tools/Internet Options/Security. Click on the Internet globe. Then select 'Default Level', then click OK. Now select 'Custom Level' and scroll down to the ActiveX controls and plug-ins section (some may already be set correctly):
    - Set 'Download signed Active X controls' to Prompt
    - Set 'Download unsigned Active X controls' to Disable
    - Set 'Initialize and Script ActiveX controls not marked as safe' to Disable
    - Set the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
    - Set the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
    - Set the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
    - Set the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt

The ones that was not set to the above I changed per the above. When I tried to get to windows update today It brought up a screen that said for administrators only. Had to back and reset. Now I am not sure just what the true setting should be. Can someone advise me on the correct settings

Also I see that Update has Active X9 should i d/l that one istead current one I have

    Thanks

    the

Which OS are you using, most likely XP/2K if it is one of those and you are logged in as user then you will need to re-login as Administrator to change the settings.

also if you have XP and SP2 that did change automatically the settings to the ones Chas highlights so you need do nothing more, if you notice if you downloaded something ActiveX before its installed you get a small drop down under the address bar of IE to alret you into saying yes or no to the activeX or any other download.

ActiveX 9 ... are you sure your not confusing it with DirectX 9??
