Ad-aware 2008

I just updated my Ad-aware to the 2008 version. I tried doing the smart scan, but it takes forever. Are there certain settings that I should be adjusting?

 

What do you define as "forever"? Scanning your whole computer does take some time, even on Smart Scan, depending on how much you have on your PC.

Have you changed any of the settings from the default?

 

well... forever for me would be about an hour or so. No, I haven't touched the settings. Not yet, anyway.

 

Agree with Lev. How much data / programs, etc., do you have on your PC? How many hard drives are being checked? Logically a 60 gig hard drive will be a lot quicker to check than a 500 gig drive full of data. Bazza

No. Different malware removal programs are written to find and remove different malware. That is why it is important to have an array of good applications. This way you catch all malware, and those that still elude the software can be removed manually from the registry directly by experts or those confident in this.

 

Ad- aware 2008 is free and good spyware. It's allowing you to maintain a higher degree of privacy while surf the Web and extra layer of protection for your PC.
