im referring to the boxes that you can check in the configure section. or maybe it was under the spybot configure. it was one of them because when i did the changes under the config section it did improve the weeding out of bad things and general junk but yeah, its under the config section that i was talking about.

    Thanks

Neither Spybot or Ad-Aware have a "configure" button. Could you please be more specific on which program and which options you are referring to.

    Ad-Aware's scan modes are:
    Perform smart system scan
    Perform full system scan
Use custon scanning options (which has a Customize option button)
Scan volume for ADS (which has a Select button)
Search for negligible risk entries (can be check or uncheck)
Search for low-risk threats (can be check or uncheck)

There a loads of things you can Customize.

That is the same as: Use custon scanning options (which has a Customize option button)
Sorry but I just did not think about that icon at the top of the screen being a button. The item on the main screen that says Scan now is what I think of as a button.

As I said, there are many things you can Customize in the scan options. Most people just use the defaults but you can use many other settings for a variety of detail scans. The more things you enable, the more detail and the longer the scan takes.

You're welcome. Yes for most simple scans it is okay as default. If your system appears to still have malware problems after running a default scan, that is when people start tweaking the scan. Other people don't bother tweaking, they just use another tool which may find things Ad-Aware missed (like Ewido security suite or Spy Sweeper)
