Moved your thread to "Software" as I think this might be a more appropriate thread for it than "Folding"

I've been using the new version for a while now.
Only problem I had was manually updating the new virus defintions.
Never did seem to get it to work all the time.
Just visited their home site and updated through there. No problems that way.

I haven't used Ad-Aware for ages. I remember when the free version of Ad-aware SE first came out - it took forever to do a "full scan" of the computer and although it seemed to update a lot; it never caught anything at all! Additionally, the newer Ad-Aware 2007 Plus "paid" shareware version (which features real-time monitoring and blocking) caught very little when I tested it out.

I recently tested a fairly new freeware program called Malware Scan that shows promise. The program also has a feature which offers a called "RealTime" button called Active protection that alerts users the moment malware enters your computer. Realtime protection is very rare for this category of freeware software. In any case, it appears to work much better as well as faster than Ad-Aware ever did.

Also, there is another freeware malware-type of scanner called a-squared Free which is the free version of a-squared Anti-Malware. It's pretty good at "detection and removal" of malware. However the free version does not have any real-time monitoring and it also takes a LONG time to complete both the Quick Scan as well as the "Deep Scan" (which is the "full scan" of the computer).

    Good Luck!
