I have been having trouble on my PC because of adware so I downloaded Ad-aware to scan and delete the files or whatever they are. The download would not open, so I downloaded the Ad-aware cloaking tool. Even with the cloaking tool on, Ad-aware could not open. I would really appreciate any ideas anyone has for fixing this problem.

    Thanks!

    Ad-Ware 341 Items found!

Okay, Would someone please tell me what to do next? I ran the Ad Ware and it says there are 342 items found.
I just scanned again and it says:
55 Running Processes 0 Processes Identified
328 Objects Recognized 153 Registry Keys Identified
0 Objects Ignored 132 Files Idenfied
    11 Folders Identified

The next page then lists these.

did you let AdAware remove and quarantine all of those items? If not, do so. Just click next after the scan and follow the prompts. If you have 55 processes running I'm thinking that you have some bad guys in there, particularly with 153 registry keys. complete the scan/quarantine and scan again, then post results.

Ad-Ware only 2 items after rebooting

    48 Running Processes
    2 Objects recognized
0 Objects Ignored 2 Files Identified
I cannot open my Microsoft Outlook 2002 now. I Quarantened the 328 items and then click on NEXT and said yes to deleting the files. Maybe I should have deselected them so as not to delete but just Quarantine. When I saved the log file it has a lot of info. I'll put just some of it here:
    Listing running processes
    #:1 [smss.exe] FilePath : \SystemRoot\System32\ Normal #:2 [winlogon.exe] FilePath : \??\C:\WINNT\system32\ BasePriority : High#:23 [wfxmod32.exe]FilePath : C:\Program Files\Norton SystemWorks\WinFax Basic Edition\ BasePriority : High
    #:38 [cool log.exe] FilePath : C:\PROGRA~1\POPONC~1\ ThreadCreationTime : 3-23-2004 4:03:14 AMBasePriority : Normal
Well, I'm not sure what Normal and High mean under Base Priority, but is this one ok?

At the end it says this twice a few seconds apart:
    Tracking Cookie Object recognized!Type : File Data : administrator@atdmt[2].txtObject : C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Cookies
    At the very end:
Scanning Hosts file(C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»Hosts file scan result:»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» 4 entries scanned. New objects :0 Objects found so far: 2
I have quarantined these two and I'm going to reboot and see if Outlook will open up now.

    I'm going to suggest

that you do an online scan at http://housecall.trendmicro.com . If you have 56k this may take awhile. Did you update your Norton AV and scan? BTW: adtmt is a data miner. I seem to get that everytime I log on to MSN. I do not believe that AdAware would take any files that would compromise your Outlook, however, there are several viruses out there right now that may.
