Adaptec External Bad Sector Recovery?

    Okay I need a program that will allow me to fix ad sectors on my external adaptec hard drive. CKDSK does nothing but run and can't fix -- runs and finds tons of bad sectors but can't fix them. When I turn on the external and hook it up to my desk top, I get a

    Device manager & drivers are fine. I know the external is probably shot but I need it long enough to get some data off of it. So I need something that won't wipe my data.

    You need a data recovery program.

    PCInspector, I've heard is good. Install that on your C drive, let it look at F and have room on C where it can put the files that it finds.

    okay so I downloaded PCInspector. It ran for about 48 hours and only got to 1% then stalled out not finding anything. Any other suggestions?
