adaptec hd enclosure question

    i got a adaptec acs-200 enclosure, its got firewire and usb 2.0 on it, when i tested the speed with hd tach i get something like 26MB/s on firewire and 36MB/s on usb 2.0, isn't firewire supposed to be faster on hard drives? next on the back i have one usb port but two firewire ports, whats that about, can i hook up a second wire and double the speed? it does not say anything about this in the manual that it comes with. thanks
