Hi, I bought a new battery for my dell laptop - it ran our of power after a few minutes so I plugged the adapter in - which then died. Any ideas on what happened? Should I have charged the battery longer? The adapter was attached for a few hours.

are you certain that the adapter is working? is it powering up the laptop? take the battery off the laptop and see if you can power it on...if not, inspect the connection (the pin where the adapter plugs into) and make sure it's ok and not loose or bent.

The adapter stopped working (no green light) once I put the new battery in, then used the battery until it had no juice - then replugged the adapter in and thats when it didnt work - the threads, etc look fine..

Do you still have the old battery. If so, does it work when you put the old battery in while the adapter is connected.
