adapting a 2.5" drive to fit 3.5" enclosure, will it work?

    Never tried it with a NAS enclosure but in the event that it may be useful, I did try (once) mounting a 2.5" HD in a 3.5" USB external enclosure using an adapter.

    The result was the screw point on the brackets to the 2.5" HD did not match (for some reason) the screw holes on the internal sled of the external enclosure.

    I did think at the time that I could drill some additional holes to line everything up but did not bother.
