Adblock Plus with Mozilla and Vista

I am attempting to use Ablock Plus with Mozilla and Vista but when online there’s an Adblock icon in the toolbar with the word “pending” next to it. On some websites I’ve noticed there’s loads of annoying “Click here for your prize” rubbish but the Adblock menu on the top of the screen states that “adblock is enabled”. I have attempted to right click these adverts to block them but I get the following message; “Make sure the browser is located on a write accessible disk, Then quit and re-launch. The missing component will be installed on start-up”. This may as well be written in double Dutch for all the sense it makes to me. So, can anyone explain exactly what I need to do to put this right. I think you need a malware check? It sounds as if your PC is infected. Here on Majorgeeks they have a malware removal section ad the guys in there will gladly help you. Just follow these guidelines.

 

Thank you both for your replies. Pretty certain my pc is not infected with anything nasty. Anyway, yesterday I had cause to use "system restore" and for some reason Adblock Plus disappeared. So, after downloading it again it seems to be working okay. Thanks again

If your have a non-infected PC you would not be plagued by pop-ups. You do have a popup blocker in your toolbar, right? In my experience Googles Toolbar is the best for the job given the fact that I don't want extra programs installed for this purpose.

Anyway running online scanners is something we all should do once or twice a month. It is simple house cleaning.

 

Sorry for the confusion but I don't think I mentioned "pop ups" - I was referring to adverts on websites. PC is clean as a whistle.
