    Hello,

I believe this is a software problem but if it is a hardware problem I apologize..I don't know, that's why I'm posting here.

My browser(s) are crashing more and more. It is soooo frustrating. My first hint of what could be causing it is this error message given by mozilla firefox:

    "Add-ons: {CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0007-ABCDEFFEDCBA}:6.0.07,{972ce4c6-7e08-4474-a285-3208198ce6fd}:3.0.10
    BuildID: 2009042316
    CrashTime: 1244823018
    Email: (I have deleted here)@yahoo.com
    InstallTime: 1241006338
    ProductName: Firefox
    SecondsSinceLastCrash: 76261
    StartupTime: 1244817411
    Theme: classic/1.0
    URL: http://us.mc625.mail.yahoo.com/mc/c...creelkw@aces.edu#_pg=compose&&.jsrand=1590517
    Vendor: Mozilla
    Version: 3.0.10

This report also contains technical information about the state of the application when it crashed."

It's not only happening in Firefox but in Explorer also...but Explorer never gives me a trouble report, it just hangs and gives the "time" symbol.

Also I will be in the middle of an email and it will say "internet explorer not responding" and I will get the time symbol. have to do alt-ctl-del and physically shut down the browser.

    What on earth?

What I am running: Windows Vista which I've had about 2 yrs.
Compaq-Presario 2.0 GB physical memory..I have all of the hardware specs I just don't know what is needed to figure out this problem.
I use explorer version 8 when Firefox acts up. Mozilla version 5.0.

Any ideas (other than the obvious.. Vista)? Haven't heard good things about it at all, but no major problems until now.

    Thanks.

    Hello Connie Y,
Hmm seems that it is an add on.

    Try this:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
Its a guide on how to open Firefox on Safe mode. It'll remove all the add-ons and such, see if your still getting the error. If you aren't from there, its definately an add-on and we'll look further into it.

    Thanks.

I followed the directions and disabled all of the add ons..let's just say it's a miracle I am still on-line. for example I just typed the "on" part of this message and it hung up for 6 or 7 seconds. Still hanging in email mid sentence..sounds like hardware which scares me.

At the top of my screen just now it said (mozilla firefox not responding) then came out of it. lovely.

    Hmm,

Weird. And your running in Safe Mode correct? or are you running in normal mode and disabled all your Add-ons?

I'm wondering if its possibly either Malware or Hardware. Are you having any other issues with lag or programs not responding?

    Let me know.

I double checked and am currently running in safe mode with add-ons disabled and got hung up again on this page. I have Norton as (hung up again 16 seconds) I use Norton as virus scanner and firewall. safe eyes as parental control...

Programs not working...anything with adobe (hung up for 23 secs there)..pdfs will not work to view.

    Hmm,

Seems possibly to be a Malware issue. I'd wait for another poster to verify, but being partially a Malware guy, I do believe it may be a malware issue.

If you want to post there, please run the "Read and Run Me first", its a Sticky at the top of the Malware Forums thread.

    Thanks, and best of luck.

I am cautiously optimistic at this point. I downloaded IObit Security 360 and since it cleaned my computer I have not had any crashes or hang-ups...hoping this was just malware and not hardware issue.

I was under the impression that Norton somehow would take care of spyware too but I'm finding out it doesn't.

    Thank you for your help.

Thank you. I downloaded Spybot Search and Destroy and the program found more spyware, tracking cookies, etc.

    Should I uninstall IObit?
