I just tried to remove some programs using "add/remove". However, when i opened it and the list of programs came up, there was no option to "change" or "remove" any of them. It would only show that they were all "rarely" used.

I am using winxp pro and never had this happened before. What do i need to do to get it back again? Also, i recently had something called Dc1.exe in my system and i THINK i got rid of it....could that have messed me up?

    any help would be appreciated!!!

I fixed it ....i had a program called "counter spy". That was the only program that allowed to be "changed or removed". I removed it and rebooted. I then went back to my control panel, but this time nothing worked when i clicked on any of the icons!! ARGH!!

Since "counter spy" was the newest program i had installed i suspected that as screwing up my computer. I then tried to use system restore....NOTHING!! it would not fire up system restore...sheesh...time to bite nails. I rebooted into safe mode and tired there...presto!! I was able to go back a few days ago and restore there....rebooted and everything SEEMS to work fine....i'm going to reboot again and see what happens.

Apparently Counter Spy is a deep rooted program that messes up systems....
