add/remove programs

I have been tinkering with FreshUI today but have only changed one or two settings. I have not altered anything to do with my problem (I dont think).

I have also disabled ctfmon.exe from being used at startup with help from people on here in a seperate thread.

I have also just downloaded Guild Wars. But after realising it wasnt free, I wanted to remove it. So I went to control panel, clicked on add/remove programs and it wont work? The add/remove loads and the window pops up for a split second before closing itself again? Which I really cant understand.

I have done a scan with A2 anti-malware, nothing. I run ccleaner and jvpowertools to clear out temp files and the registry. Rebooted tried to gain access to add/remove. Same thing.

Ive managed to remove Guild Wars with jvpowertools now. But still cant get onto add/remove? Any ideas anyone please?

 

Click on Start > Run > and enter %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\appwiz.cpl

That should open Add/Remove. Close it and try to open it from the control panel now.

No, it dosent work. It does the same thing as when I click to open. Flashes on the screen and closes straight away?

This is strange. Unless that game has done something I cannot see what else I have done. It worked fine this morning as I uninstalled something.

However I can still add/remove using jvPowerTools and TuneUp?

 

Try # 323 on the left-hand side (Add or Remove Programs Appears to Stop Responding).

Nope. No joy with that either. That refers to a patch in 1995 I see, but I did try follow it and I couldnt find %Windir%\$NTUninstallKB840374$\Spuninst or run Spuninst. It only stopped working today though and Ive had no patches since a day or two ago. Im sure its got to do with that game messing up something. Its all that I can think of.
