Adding a 32bit laptop hard drive into my 64bit pc

Hi all,
So my Dell XPS M1210 laptop motherboard fried(again). I refuse to repair it as every year I've needed a new motherboard.(You know, fool me a 3d time, shame on me...) So I was hoping to install the hard drive into my Dell Dimension 8100 pc. I would only use it for storing files. Also, the laptop was running Vista Premium 32 bit. My pc has XP service pack 2 64bit. Is there a way to make this work? Or should I just float test the laptop?

The bit size of Windows (32 or 64) has nothing to do with the hard drive, it has to do with the processor. The drive should work fine in your other computer.

It can be both.

If you want a external drive you will need a enclosure.

Would I need any extra cables or connectors to install it internally?
I guess the better ? is would my pc hard drive (ribbon) type cable mate with the laptop drive?

 

What type of hard drive is it? Is it a laptop drive that's small?

Yes. It's about the size of a deck of cards but half the thickness.
