I've been reading a tweak guide to increase performance in XP and one of the tweaks enables you to free 200mb of RAM which is never used due to XP storing it for future use which will never occur.

Anyway, here's what it suggests doing:

My question is how do I input these lines into the registry? I'm at the part where you have to input them but I'm not sure how to.

    Open notepad

Copy and Paste the below bold text into it

Save it as AddLines.reg or something similair on your desktop (note the extension, you will need to make sure you set the file type to 'All Files' when saving otherwise it will save as text.)

    Close notepad

Double click the file and your desktop and click yes to allow it to merge with the registry.

NOTE: ONLY EIDT THE REGISTRY IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING

If you find the edit you make causes errors you can remove the same 2 entries by using the text below in the same way as above

Thank you VERY much mate... God I'm glad I didn't try it myself now, I would have messed it up completely. Your way is much different to the way I was gonna do it. Thanks again, I appreciate it :)

EDIT: Just one last request... I did this myself but I'm not sure if I did it right. What would I need to do to do the following:

And yes I've noted everything down that I've changed in the registry just incase I mess anything up.

the way I did it is a 'registry patch' its a sort of script file that makes it a bit safer than going digging in the registry yourself, If I was you i'd save the second text too as UndoLines.reg or something just incase you want to revert at some point.

To create new values in a reg key: Navigate to the desired key/sub key and single left-click on it to display it's contents in the right hand pane. Right click in the right hand pane in a blank area and you'll see "New >" with a menu. Choose "String" and enter the new values name. Using the post above as an example, you'd type 'LargeSystemCache' without the quotes and press Enter. Then right click on your newly created name and select "Modify". Enter the new data for your new value. Again, using the above post, you'd enter '00000001' without the quotes and press Enter. That's IT!

REMEMBER: Creating new reg values and making changes in general to the registry can be very dangerous if you're not certain of what you're doing. So be careful and ALWAYS make a backup of the reg before making changes.
