When adding a second hard drive with a larger buffer and faster speed (the second one being the slave)... will the performance be affected? For example I would like to add a second hard drive to put games on. If I install it as additional storage in the slave position will I still benefit from increased performance or does it need to be the master drive? My current drive is an 80gig 5400 rpm 2meg cache. The drive I would like to add is a 200 gig 7200rpm 8meg cache.

you would get more of a perfomance boost if you were to use the 200gig drive and ditch the 80 giger ... maybe you could get an external casing for it and use it as a backup drive

Agree. Make the 200GB primary and slave the 80GB. The HD probably comes with a CD to ghost it.

I may be wrong on this, but I think that performance will be dictated by the slowest device on that particular EIDE channel.
