Address Bar Missing

Help!! For some reason my address bar is missing. I have run spybot and ad aware but that hasn't helped. Three things are happening. One, I have no address bar and on my email, I cannot view the emails. I have to click on an attachment to view the message in notepad. The third thing is I cannot click on a link when in a website because it gives me a blank screen.

I can click on the gray area on top of the screen and the address bar is clicked but not visible.

What can I do to get it back? Thanks anyone....

have u checked to see if it is just minimized behind toolbary which includes the back page button?

 

I'm not sure how to check that. If I hit the back button it moves me back in my history doesn't it?

 

next to your bar that says file, edit,view ect, do u see the little skinny bar to left going vertically? Look for a bar like that, that doesnt seem to have anything to the right of it. Let me know if you see that

 

OK. I know where you are now. No, there is no bar without anything. I have three, one for the File, Edit, etc, one for the Back, Stop, Refresh and the last one is for the Links.

I can grab the gray areas and drag them to close and open them and that doesn't reveal the address bar either.

 

ok, try view, toolbars and then see if address bar is unchecked

 

That is checked.

 

hmm.. have u run hijack this and seen or found out from others if there are any files in it that might be causing your problem?

 

I'm not familiar with hijack this. Is it a software? Our son suggested I run the spybot and/or ad aware but I do that as a normal routine of my browsing habits.

 

i would suggest that you run this basic spyware program and see how it goes from their, your problem is most likely a virus. http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407

You might want to check and see if your toolbars are locked......if they are, you couldn't drag anything back. If there's a check beside it, uncheck it and try dragging from the right to left on that second gray area down......mine goes hiding there every now and then. >)

 

I checked and the toolbars was not locked. I did as you suggested and unchecked address bar and dragged the bars right to left and back again.

 

im assuming that it didnt work. Well anyways that link i sent you should be helpful. even if it isnt you will then be able to post your hijack this log file at this site (the administrators will not let you do so until you have completed the basic virus helper) the link should explain how to download hijack this and people at majorgeeks will be able to help you read the file if you are confused.
