Address Bar: Site Temporarily Unavailable

Here's one that's got me scratching my head!

New IE7 install. When I fire it off, It goes to http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx and opens a new tab with the title "Customize Your Settings" but the page is completely blank. If I try to navigate to any other page - www.aol.com, for example, I get a message window that has the title "Address Bar" and the message "'http://www.aol.com' is currently unavailable."

On the same computer, I run Firefox and can go anywhere on the web I want to go.

Any ideas about what might be wrong?

 

On the far right side of the browser you have tools,click, and a drop down menu appears, select options, and type in the home page of your choice. ed

Um yes. I know how to reset the Home Page, thankyouverymuch. I already set it to "Use Blank". Still tries to go to the "runonce" page when I launch IE7.

But the real problem - the one I need help with - is that I get the "'{url}' Is Currently Unavailable" message no matter what address I type in the address bar. Sounds suspiciously like a browser hijack to me, but there is nothing in HJT which looks suspicious. Spybot S&D finds nothing, NOD32 finds nothing, Windows Defender finds nothing. Runs this way in Safe Mode With Networking, too.

And yet, at the same time, Firefox will go to any page I care to go to. In fact, it's how I got here to make the original post.

Can't browse anywhere with IE7, can browse anywhere I want with Firefox. That's the problem I need help with.
