I bought a laptop from my friend. and i ran a DXDIAG on it, to see what it has, well ram and video and such. It said it had 32mb of video..which isnt bad i guess. But i was playing around in the bios..and i saw an option for VGA memory or something to that extent...and it allows me to change it from 32mb to 128mb ....How does this work? will it really increase my graphics? or is it...something else.

I just wanna know so i don't accidently screw up my laptop.

I think this is a hardware topic...? lol

You wont screw anything up, that setting will allow the video to rob that much more ram from the system ram, if you have less than 1 gig i wouldnt set it any higher. ed

If the laptop has 512MB of memory & XP or below you should be able to go 64MB on the video provided you aren't running a program/game that requires more then 448MB of memory.

If you have 1GB of memory you should be able to go up to 128MB on the video.
That will leave 896MB for the system .
