Adjusting the PC's time on the desktop

I can’t adjust my PC's clock. I get the following warning message: rundll//32.exe Bad Image, followed by:
C:WINDOWS\system32\timedate.cpl is not a valid Windows image

Is it possible to repair this without reloading Windows (XP)?

 

Click Start, Run, and enter sfc /scannow and click OK

You are quite right. It does ask for the CD , which I do not have.

 

It sucks that you don't have the Windows CD, I believe that Windows should supply the cds for free, since you have a license (you do have a license right). Unfortunetly, the site rules do not allow me to link to any torrent sites that would let you get it (I think).

 

IMHO sounds like something has modified system files. Are you running any anti-virus and or anti-spyware/malware programs. Many free ones available here on MG's.

Bugballou is correct most with your problem had malware, it might be fixed by removal. Follow the READ & RUN ME directions completely here: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407

Then post requested logs as attachments in the Malware Forum. Be patient, they're very busy in that forum.


@Senlis, think he/she has enough problems w/o downloading illegal software and you're correct MGs does not allow the links.

 

Thank you gentlemen. Bugballou, I think you are right. I should have tried the basic trick of restarting the PC. The time display is now normal. (I do have anti-virus and spyware installed)
