Hi Guys, I am pulling my hair out with this one. I have a P4 HP Pavilion zv5000 Laptop with XP Home and service pack 2. The system is behaving strangely since last week.

I am using the latest version of the Etrust antivirus package. I noticed that in
Control Panel> Administrative Services> that the BII (Background Intelligent )Service is disabled and Automatic updates service is disabled even when I renable it. It seems to disable itself.

Also it stopping me from having internet access while in windows but I can get internet in safe mode.

I initially thought it was a virus so I have removed the hard disk and scanned it in another PC. There were no viruses found. I used Etruts antivirus and used a Symantec Antivirus 2005. Nothing detected.

Whenever I apply windows updates it installs them and then when I restart the system its says they are not installed.

Whenever I tried to install the new antivirus onto the system it says I do not have administrative rights, when I am 100% sure I do.

Also when I type cmd and regedit, the boxes both dissapear. I have run online virus scanners and scanned the system with Microsoft antispyware. What can it be?????? Because other than that the system runs perfect and the next step is a rebuild.

I am attaching a hijack this log.
