Administrator Authority

    XP Pro, SP3...
    I'm trying to save a MS Works document to a CD and am getting "You do not have permission to save in this directory. Please see Administrator. I'm the only one that uses this computer and don't recall this problem ever before. How do I enable the ability to save? Thanks...

    Right click the file and choose properties. Then see if it has a security tab. If so, see if your user account is listed and has full permissions.

    I can find no security tab in properties. I think it must be something else though. Funny, I can copy to a floppy but not to a cd/dvd and cannot copy the file from the floppy to cd/dvd. I originally copied this file to the disc several years ago and then now when trying to copy for updated info, I get the see administrator message. Then when I put in a blank disc to copy the file to, I get E:/ not accessable. Incorrect function.

    Hi Jud


    Is the CD a re-writable one? as if its not and its been closed/finalised you cannot sadly add more files to it or update them.

    With a blank CD you will need Packet Writing software like Nero InCD or alike to use the CD as like a floppy for drag n drop usage, otherwise you have to use a burning application like CDBurnerXP

    Thanks, David. Actually the disc is rewritable (CD-RW) and it allow copying the MS Work file originally several years ago. Now it won't and neither will a blank CD-RW.
