Administrators Rights Denied

Hello All!

I have just registered on this website, but have lurked on Major Geeks for years.

I have a problem that IBM or AT&T DSL cannot help me with. On my IBM R51e Laptop I have been getting denied administrator's rights. I bought this laptop on Ebay a couple of years ago and it was still under warranty. Running some of my programs, ie 'photography'. I am denied access.

I have sent this PC to IBM about 3 times. It has been unsuccessful in getting this problems resolve, I have ran countless system restores on it to no avail. IBM said that this laptop was originally issued to a corporation and that I should contact who I had purchased it from.

Then I tried to get help with my AT&T DSL because I'm once again denied the privilege to download browser, anti-virus, etc. Now AT&T throws me back to IBM. I purchased an extended warranty with IBM, a glitch on their end, it's good until the year 2013. (I know I'll be dead or this laptop will be.)

I have a desktop PC as well and made sure that the Computer Management on the Administrators Tools of Local Users and Groups are set correctly.

I have gone to START-RUN and typed in "cmp" then ENTER typed in the "net user" on the Command Prompt to see if I could locate something in my HKEYS. No luck!

I'm like a cat chasing its tail. As I have stated, I have lurked this forum for many years due to other problems, and had them resolved with a click here and there.

I'm in hopes that someone may have the fix for me.

Since this latop is a couple of years old, I take it you are using a version of XP?

Please describe exactly what you try to do and what happens when you try.

Yes, I'm using Windows XP Pro that was pre-installed in the IBM Laptop. Using IE 6.0 I encounter this problem when I try to download the AT&T Yahoo! Browser it starts to download then a box with the text appears;

As I continue trying to download the browser I get another box with the text;

As it continues to download I get another text message:

(continues in with the download)
Another text message;

Then I click "Finished".

The browser does not work and any of the software that is offered with my provider will not download correctly.

I have contacted AT&T and had a few Master Tech try to resolve this problem (no luck). Even when I do a complete system restore and go back to the manufacturer's default it does not fix the problem. I have sent this laptop to IBM and when I get it back I still have the same issue of 'Administrators Rights Denied' or programs that I personally installed do not work, ie CompuPic.

I did some reading about process and request identity in ASP.NET at the following link and wonder, "Could this be the cause of my problem possibly in my HKEYS"? (reading this is was Greek to me)

By 'download' are you trying to install direct from online or just download the application to a temp folder for later installation?

What is the status of the .net framework on the pc?

This is what I find for the ASPNET User: Account used for running the ASP.NET worker process (aspnet_wp.exe),
Can you direct me to that location?
