If you are using Adobe 5.1 Reader, stick with that. Adobe 6.0 takes twice as long to launch and the splash screen is massive, taking up almost the entire screen. The only real feature I can see is the ebook reader has been added. If you have no real need for the ebook reader, then stick with version 5.1. The length of load time killed this app for me.

It launches in the same amount of time as version 5.1 did for me.

How much RAM (memory) do you have installed in your computer?

If you don't have enough memory in your computer, that could be the reason why it takes a long time to launch for you.

I don't know why it's taking so long. I have a Compaq, 800mghz with 380Mb ram. I am running Windows ME which really sucks and may be the source of the prolem

ElectricTNT--- I have read a lot of bad reviews for Windows ME on various different websites. So just like you said, Windows ME could be the problem. If you are able to afford it, I highly recommend you upgrade your operating system to Windows XP. Windows XP is fantastic.

6.0 seems to load faster on my machine (2k) than 5.1.

But you should seriously think about XP or 2k. Heck, 98 is better than ME.

    ME < 98 < XP Home < 2k < XP Pro

Acrobat Reader is just that... a reader for files created by Adobe Acrobat. Adobe Acrobat is a desktop publishing program, and it creates documents that can be viewed identically on any system and have embedded security features (PDF stands for portable document format). You can stop people from editing, copying, and even printing your documents. Its a common standard. If only it weren't so proprietary..... Thankfulls SourceForge has a nice little PDF printer device.
