Adobe Acrobat 8.1 update problems

i am trying to update from adobe acrobat 8.0 to 8.1 but everytime i go to adobes website i download the proper update install and i get this error: "The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correcrt upgrade patch." i don't really understand what else to do i've tried auto updates but adobe tells me that i don't have an internet connection. :***

 

Have you tried uninstalling all previous versions of acrobat using Windows Installer cleanup?

i was able to find a different update for Adobe Acrobat and it did work it was a new one that came out that i was not current with on my hdd. :drink

 

Me thinks you mean Adobe Reader, not Adobe Acrobat. They are not the same thing. Reader is free, Acrobat is not.

 

yes i know that it costs to have it that's what i have. i got the problem fixed it was a different file update that i got from like download.com and it didn't work there was a corrupt file so i went to adobe and explained my problem and i was able to find the 9/17/2007 update i was looking for. so i got it all up to date
