Adobe Acrobat Reader Doesn't Work/install On Win7/64 Laptop

Hi! I've been trying to read .pdf files on a Win7Pro/64 laptop but keep getting error messages about running scripts and components not being found. After that, I got a message box saying that I need to run it without protected mode. It still wouldn't run. I also tried to download and reinstall it, but it complained about a script error. I really want it there, as I have some manuals I need to read while there.

 

if you just want to read pdf files, sumatra is a good choice.
and there is a portable version so no installation needed.
