I have been listening to mp3's on 4shared.com & all the sudden a box is coming up on the player that says :

    adobe flash player settings
    static.4shared.com is requesting
    permission to store information
    on your computer
    allow deny

    Is this legit??

    Thanks

    It's most likely legit.

You can go to Control Panel and click the Flash Player Icon and make the setting permanent to either allow - deny - ask. I tell it to always deny.

What Operating System are you running and what version of Flash do you have installed?

Open your browser and go to this page
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about
It will show you the version of flash (a plugin) installed in that browser.
There are two versions one for IE and another for all other browsers. You might have a different version on IE than you do on another browser because flash always needs two updates: one for IE and a second for all the other browsers.

There is a newer Flash Player version available with a security update; get it from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html - make sure that you download the 32-bit installer for Windows XP.

Flash Player 11.x should show you a Flash Player Settings Control Panel entry.

If you don't have that for some reason, you can manage your website storage settings at http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html

That's odd, it should be there. What browser are you using? Perhaps the Adobe icon is not added to Windows Control Panel if you have no browser other than Internet Explorer installed. You can bring up the control panel by right clicking on Flash content on a website and selecting Global Settings.

After version 10.3 of flash, the control panel icon appears for all computers running XP and newer.
I have two windows 2K computers that don't have the CP icon but my XP and Win 7 computers do.

My thoughts, you chose to hide some control panel icons.

    Look here: x86: C:\WINDOWS\system32\FlashPlayerCPLApp.cpl

    x64: C:\WINDOWS\sysWOW64\FlashPlayerCPLApp.cpl

and see if it is disabled.

I right clicked on that file after I foudn it & hit "properties" & the box "hidden" was not checked . Is that what I was looking for?
The settings on the website were different, only asking how much storage to allow, with no 'deny" or "allow" selection.

After installing the latest Flash Player version 11.1.102.63, does the Flash Player Settings icon still not appear in your Control Panel?

Do you display your CP in classic mode?

Can you post a screenshot of your CP?
