I recently (March 13th) installed the latest Adobe flash player update (17.0.0.134) and have been having problems with it ever since. Videos pause, stutter, and make a buzzing noise. (Though that seems to only happen if I move my mouse.) My mouse is very slow in moving and responding. When typing, letters I know I typed don't appear and I have to backspace and re-type. (As I've had to do several times while typing this.) And I get error messages (from Adobe flash player) and occasionally it crashes.

Should I uninstall and then re-install? Should I install an older version? (The previous version that I had no problems with.) If so, where do I find that older version? I've searched, but I'm not sure what version number it was.

I could really use some help. This is driving me crazy. And, by the way, this has taken me much longer to type out than it should because of all backspacing and re-typing I'm having to do. *sigh*

Oh, my computer is fairly new (less than a year old), HP, Windows 8.1.

Which web browser are you using?
I suggest you uninstall using the Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller, restart, and re-install. If the problems are not solved, uninstall and re-install an older version. The previous version is 16.0.0.287. Ensure you download the correct one for your browser. The one for Internet Explorer has (IE) after the version number.

The uninstaller can be found here.

Thank you. It took a long time to uninstall with my slow mouse and typing problems and trying to figure out how to change ownership/permissions so that I could delete folders. And it didn't help that my mouse stopped responding and I had to restart my computer (by pushing the button), but I eventually got it uninstalled and re-installed. So far, things seem back to normal. If it starts acting up again, I'll be back.

    Again, thank you!

You are not expected to do this. Flash gets updated automatically in Windows 8 and 8.1.

    For future reference:
    Code:
    Flash Player Uninstaller: http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe
