    Hi and thanks in advance.

I have Win 7 64bit using 32 bit browsers for I.E. 8.07, Firefox 3.6 and Chrome 7.0. About a week ago, several websites using Adobe Flash started showing the preview commercial and then stopped completely. Just a black window. An example site is: http://www.cwtv.com/cw-video/nikita/?tab=2. This problem occurs on all 3 browsers. I uninstalled and re-installed Adobe Flash via Windows Programs and Features but this did not help. I will appreciate any help. Thanks

As an aside, I tried searching through the forums but couldn't word my search appropriately to cover this issue. I'm open for tips on how to refine my search.

Thanks. When searching out how to uninstall from Google Chrome I found out about the uninstaller. Tried it to no avail. I do appreciate your reply. This thing is bugging me.

I can imagine. I checked the Nikita link - works fine here.

Have you tried going to the Adobe site (or Macromedia, whatever it's called), running their test video?

No, I haven't thanks. Sounds like a good idea. I'll look for their test video. I'm highly reluctant at this stage to pay $39 for help. Why it works for some websites and not others has confounded me. After doing the test I'll let you know what I find out. Thanks again.

I passed the test successfully with all 3 browsers. I never use I.E. willingly so it is pretty much a clean install and well as Chrome. I have several extensions and add-ons for Firefox including AdBlock+NoScript and Better Privacy. As mentioned before, I had no problem a week or so ago. I'm wondering if the VLC media player of a veetle.com media player could be interfering. I uninstalled both and that didn't help. Why I can see the initial commercial and not the program has me stumped. Also, I found out Sunday I can no longer see the NFL Game Center. Not exactly correct. I can see the "field" and frame but not the ball and yardage markers. Just for a test I am able to view episodes on Bones and Human Target on Fox.com. All mentioned sites use Adobe Flash. Thanks for listening.

    Strange symptoms.

Sounds like you've reached the point where you might consider other possibilities. What type of ethernet adapter and video card are you running? How do you access the 'net?

I'm using a Netgear wifi router and have AT&T DSL. By the way, my little Acer Aspire One netbook does not have this problem. I may end up resorting to using a Windows Restore Point though I really rather not.

Might be your only option, especially since you've got a reference point as to when the problem started.

Problems like this can make you pull your hair out if you're not careful.

Thanks for pondering this with me. I'll hold off a few days on the off chance someone else has encountered and solved the problem. I appreciate your efforts.

I found the culprit. Well, at least I have narrowed it down. After uninstalling the "BetterPrivacy" add-on for Firefox, I can now see the "content" that had been missing using Adobe Flash. Apparently, one or more of their settings significantly changed upon their last update which I automatically installed. Hopefully, my trial and error with help someone else in the future. Thanks.

Good job! That's a new one on me - glad you got it, and thanks for the feedback! :major
