ADSTECH USB X-835 External Hard drive kit

UPDATE. Computer doesnt recognise drive in usb port. Want to extract old files and photographs. Told that hard drive in external case must have same OS as computer. Vista 64 now in computer, XP in old hard drive in external case. Does this make sense to anybody. The tech support that I spoke to cant explain how a brand new hard drive with NO OS would react in the same case. Woman in ARGENTINA of all places. [Rocketfish tech support] They have the same product as ADS TECH, so tried my luck.

 

Makes no sense in your instance, Vista can see any partition and file system created using XP.

Connect the USB drive to a 2nd PC.

 

Thats what I thought. Will try to get more info.

 

Scrap the ADSTECH kit. Connect the hd up directly using an adapter.

I own an ADSTECH gizmo (not a hd enclosure) and could never get it to work. Tech support was most unhelpful. Even something as simple as the pictures in the manual did not match what I was seeing on my computer screen, did not give me a reply as to what was the problem. I emailed both pictures so they could see the difference.

 

Are you using the adapter with VISTA. Could that ever be an issue? The specs do not mention vista, only xp.
