I've been using Advanced System Care for a few years and, overall, have been very happy with its performance.

Now that Sysinternals is out, it seems to be getting great reviews as well.

For those who have tried both, which in your opinion does a better job in terms of speed, overall results and the fewest side effects (glitches)? I recently had an issue with ASC 4.0 disabling program start options on a few Win 7 x64 PCs and am considering making the switch.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts. :)

ASC is a generic type of general-purpose program, designed to do a fair job of tuning for someone who has few technical skills or knowledge. > A squad of grunts straight out of training ;)

Sysinternals is purely manual, a host of individual applications requiring a good deal of knowledge to make the best use of it/them. > A Canadian sniper team ;)

ASC is a quick fix (mostly) for a limited range of easier/common issues. Some bloatware overheads, fast to use but basic, some glitches/bugs inevitable unless it's the only 'tweaking' tool used.

Sysinternals can be used to troubleshoot and fix almost anything, with the addition of some of the Nirsoft tools, you'll have a great troubleshooting setup. Time-consuming to learn, overheads are almost zero, glitches and bugs - only those that affect the tools, none that I'm aware of, that affect the OS or other programs.

In other words, Sysinternals is what you use when cleaning up all the crap on your clueless friends' PCs. ASC is what you install afterwards so they can hopefully do self-service in the future and won't call you again at Midnight with an "emergency." :-D
