Bart PE has a HUGE list on his page. Keep in mind you must legally own the program to use it in his WinPE CD, though.

Has a huge list of apps that can be included on the CD. Mix of Freeware, Open Source, and Retail appiclations can be inculded on the CD/DVD. As always you must own any of trhe retail applications before including them on the CD.

 

Thanks Adrynalyne and shadow_puter_dude, I am not looking for bart based apps anymore,ERD commander uses bart pe and it is the most impressive bart based tool I have seen yet.It allows to edit the registry of a dead system, check corrupted files and use system restore,thats amazing.But what I am more impressed is with acronis bootable rescue media,which I beleive doesnt use any windows kernel files(If I am wrong do tell).I am thinking from a developers stand point and I am not interested in using it but learning how they do it.So anybody has any bootable utilities.Memtest like apps will also do for my list.

These are not 'os free' they are Linux. Though AdvanceMame boots to a screen for you to pick games, not a desktop so the os is well hidden.
