Advice and comments on tablet PCs

I recently got into digital photography, and was considering getting a tablet PC for my next computer. I'm not too keen on how they perform or who makes the best for the money. I assume that programs like Photoshop CS2 can run on a tablet, with using the pen as the drawing tool, right? Anyway, I searched this forum but nothing really came up as far as recomendations go. Besides photo editing and digital photography stuff, I'd use it for internet a lot, occasional DVD movies, rare gaming, and of course fairly regular word processing. The main feature I'm attracted to is using the tablet/pen combo for photo editing. Has anyone had any experience with that type of tablet use? Is it better than a keyboard/mouse setup?
