I have a Dual Core 2.93, I have 2 Sata Drives. 450 Watt PSU with the 4 pin. PCIe card (gtx 260 oc).

Heres my issue. I have a MSI neo-digital p6ng that the usb ports are bad on. Everything else works fine. I just got a usb PCI card.

Does anyone know a good upgrade/replacement for my MOBO that's not too expensive? I like the fact that you can overclock with this motherboard in the BIOS so that's a plus with me.

    Thanks!

    Nate

Yeah, that's what I did, like I said in my original post.

"Everything else works fine. I just got a usb PCI card."

I'm wanting a better motherboard. Can anyone suggest any good motherboards that would be better than what I have?

    Please and Thank you!

    Sorry, I misread your post.

Being that you have a Socket 775, it may be a bit tough to dig up something "fancy". Many of the Socket 775 boards are no longer available, or are no longer manufactured. Basically, depending on the price point, the pickin's can be slim.

    You could go with this:

Newegg has a MUCH broader selection:

Frequently, the majority of boards out there are MicroATX.

They don't make many 775 slot motherboards anymore? The thing is that I don't know what would be the best to go with. Notice how you said you didn't read my post but "knew that everything else worked fine" There's 1000 MOBO's on there. Guess what? I found out today that my father is going to die within the week. He has an incurable infection in his lungs and it wont be too long before they have to move him to a room that will be his final room before he dies. Thanks for your help. And before you ask why am I not with my father, he has visiting hours on his level of the hospital until he is moved. You are a pompous ***. Now cancel my account so I can cry about it. Life is not always a joke.

For a start i don't think for a second "the mekanic" was trying to insult you or cause any trouble. I'm sorry to hear what has happened but you can't have a go at him.

Can i ask why you want to upgrade the motherboard, you understand you will gain 0 performance increase?

I think as long as your motherboard supports it you should look at getting a quad core instead, something like a Q6600, that would extend the life of the system far beyond simply putting in a "better" motherboard.

But I would have working usb ports in case I ever want to sell it. I can use Google by the way. And I do think the guy was having a "go" at me by sending me to search engines instead of giving me advice on a motherboard. Again, thanks for the advice you guys on a motherboard.

Any advice on a motherboard? I'm not looking for increased performance. Please read first post. I don't want a processor. i already have a pci usb card. I need advice for a motherboard.

Thanks man, he's actually doing better. They took him off the ventilator and his heart rate is going up and down, but they're on top of it. He's talking and actually laughed. They are moving him out of ICU tomorrow to a different room, they'll still be monitoring him. Visiting hours are lame. They are so rude in some of these hospitals. I'm pissed off that they were pushing us to move him to hospice and ABRACADABRA he's off the ventilator and doing better. These are people's lives they are playing with.

Anyway, thanks for the links. That's all i was asking. I was simply asking for a replacement, and if it was cheap enough maybe something better.

Believe me, I'm going with a quad core as soon as I can. Just upgraded from a 9800gt to a gtx260 OC. I'm not SUPER particular or need the BEST. i'm happy with my 19' wide screen and everything else. But I'm itching for a quad core. Just can afford it now. Honestly I might just wait and get another pci usb card to tell you the truth.

I appreciate your post. Miscommunication is easy on the internet people. It never stops.

Just because you are upset, doesn't mean you should vent at me. It may interest you to know, that I live with a disability, which will one day be the death of me. It affects my ability to get proper sleep, and that does take it's toll on occasion. It does affect my cognitive abilities now, and then.

Yes, there are "thousands" of 775 motherboards out there, but they are mostly MicroATX, and your board you currently have is a FULL ATX "form factor". These are all the FULL ATX boards NewEgg carries (15):

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...ption=&Ntk=&CFG=&SpeTabStoreType=&srchInDesc=

The FULL ATX form factor boards are fewer in number than the Micro ATX boards. Anything you do find, will most likely have dust on it, from sitting on the warehouse shelf for so long. 775 was two Intel sockets ago.

Sorry to hear about your father, and good luck with your search...

If the systems primary use is for gaming then save on the quad core as the dual will be just as good and save up for a better graphics card.

Maybe get a decent cooler and OC the cpu a bit.

First of all, my Dad is fine. He's made of steel or something. Thanks for the kind words.

    Here's the deal.

    I now have a
    quad core q9400 2.66 Mhz
    4GB kit (2GBx2), Ballistix 240-pin DIMM, DDR2 PC2-6400 memory module
    2 sata drives
    500 watt psu
    pci usb card (5 inputs)

I really need a new motherboard. now the on board ethernet is screwed. tried using a ethernet pci card and it won't recognize it. reinstalled 2 different drivers for the on board and still nothing. it's affecting my internet speeds. i hook up my laptop and do speed tests and it run fine. i use this desktop and it hops all over the place. i need at least 1 pci express x16 slot and 2 pci slots of course.

i really need a cheap motherboard. would the FoxConn that was suggested be fine?

    any help at all? thanks!

Micro-ATX boards are backwards compatible with full size ATX.

i game a lot. i was just wondering if the foxconn MoBo would be fine. ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813186192 ) i just found one for 45 buck brand new. what do you mean by backwards compatible? would I need a new case?

i also prefer a MoBo that I can OC in the bios.

This Gigabyte looks pretty good if you're stuck with DDR2 (though there's no guarantee that your current RAM will work in it). Newegg link. Check it carefully for compatibility against what you have and what you need.

Backwards compatible means that the micro ATX (uATX) will fit in the same case as a full ATX - with room to spare. The outer right and bottom fixings used on a full ATX are not likely to be needed, just check whether you have to move the current standoffs to different locations before fitting the new board.

Overclocking can damage components and cause issues with pci cards if done wrong. If your still having issues that way i would try setting your cpu back to its designed speed and see if that helps. I'm assuming you are keeping your cooling levels decent and aren't over heating components, but that can be the death of marginal gear.
