Hello well thankfully its been a while since ive been here!

I have a Dell dimensions 4600 and have recently formatted and installed win xp pro version 2002
my problem is due to the lack of an Ethernet controller driver! I do have the dell dimensions Resource cd which is most unhelpfull and anything I have tried didnt work I also went on the Dell support download site but to no avail I have downloaded a number of dofferent drivers which have not resolved my issues and have re instaled now abour three times!

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks. Rusty

    Hi

What Service Pack to XP have you installed?

In Device Manager what devices have a yellow ! mark by them?

But likely suspect is you are missing the Chipset driver as thats one thats missed out alot, but is very needed as it allows the other onboard devices such as Network, USB and Audio to be correctly ID'd and the correct drivers to be installed ok.

Install the Chipset driver from HERE and reboot, important to reboot.

Then install the Network driver from HERE
