Advice on Outdoor Video Camera System (1 Mile)

Hello. I joined Major Geeks today hoping to find advice or some good leads on resources to build an outdoor video security system spanning one mile. If this subject has been covered in an earlier thread, I apologize and would greatly appreciate the link.

Here's the scoop: While on vacation last month to my uncle's property down in the Baja (yes, Mexico) I proudly showed him how I could view my recently installed shop security cameras on my smart phone. Before the last beer was drunk I had volunteered to return to his place and install an outdoors video system. He'll buy the components, I'll provide the labor.

My goal is to install a private wifi network (not accessible over the web) using wifi cameras, high gain antennas where necessary, all rolling into the computer and monitor inside the house. The distance to cover is just under a mile (8/10th from the beach to the road where the house and monitor will be). Slight hills but line-of-sight towers are easily installed. Running 120v to the tower(s) can be done but will require a fair amount of work (again, at his cost). Probably no more than 8 cameras. Lastly, climate needs to be considered. There are not a lot of high winds but A LOT of sun and temperatures over 110f. The use of solar power would work great.

If anyone here has particular experience with a project like this I would sure like to know your thoughts and advice. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions and guidance.
