Ok here is the scoop. I am trying to gat an accurate reading of my cpu temp. I downloaded motherboard monitor and my cpu temp was 71C. I was shocked. I am using a stock hsf, but 71C idle. HOLY S***. To double check the temps i reinstalled mm5 and downloaded another monitor i found on the web. the temps where still in the 70C's. I began thinkin and remembered that i can check the temp of the cpu in my bios. I did that and behold the temp was between 41C and 44C. This seems to make more sense but you never know. Has anyone else had this problem? I would really like to know my temps under load and idle because i am in the market for a new hsf. I would like to compare temps. Does any one reccomend another monitoring Utility. I have included a screen shot of the two utilities below. Any help would be great!

    Thanks all:confused:

    Hi
Thanks for the link. Sandra is great but the cpu temp is still at 71C and the board is at 51C. I have had 3 utilities tell me that my temps where in the 70Cs. My bios say that my cpu is at 41 still. Which ones do i believe?

hi overcooked have you tried any of the ace software majorgeeks is supporting click on the link to check it out.
if not you tried a bios update might be a bug fix for this problem on your mobo makers site
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads14.html

MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THE RISKS BEFORE DOING THIS INCORRECT BIOS UPDATE CAN BE FATAL FOR YOUR MOBO WITHOUT A FIX.

I am running a barton 2500+ i was getting temps in the low 60's (C that is). If i were to OC to 3200+ my cup wouldent even make it to the windows boot up screen with out it restarting. this was even with a 3rd party hsf. i purchased the High Tower Series HT-101 today, and OC my machine to 3200+ and am glad to say my temp is is steady at 35C couldent be more pleased with this product. its a bit pricy but worth it in the long rung.

71C is very hot. When you are checking your temps in bios, it is reading them without any overclocking,, basically with your cpu running in "safe" mode. and,, without any load (IE:windows/programs etc.) the cpu will run much cooler. It's very possible that the temps you are reading are reading are pretty close to what they really are. Both in Windows, and Bios.

Did you use any thermal grease between the CPU and the heatsink? or just the factory pad? You should be getting cooler temps even with a stock fan/heatsink.

HIGH5 - I was looking at the ht101 it is a little expensive but if i can get temps as low as yours it might me worth it. I am still going to look around though, maybe something new is coming out that is a little cheeper.

dperino - I downloaded sandra and my temps are still messed up. i currently am using the stock hsf with the factory pad. When i get my new hsf i will put a nice layer of AS3. Umm... Cool

Ok, For i'm experienceing the same problems with mobo monitor here, I have just fitted an Aero 7 Lite also on an XP 2400. Are you sure your mobo monitor is not reading a - figure for your CPU temp? That is what im getting here.

Just to try and stop you worrying that your machine is going 2 melt :p

it's quite simple really, mbm5 either doesn't support your mainboard or you've selected the wrong things to monitor. Most likely scenario here is that mbm5 doesn't support your XFX mainboard or needs an extra plugin to work correctly.
