I followed the steps in the 'Read Me First' page for eliminating spyware/malware and after I was finished I received several pop-up dialog boxes informing me that particular file names were attempting to change their names/locations to something else. I clicked 'Block' assuming it was spyware trying to redirect the files again. However, after rebooting my system everytime I open an Office file (like a Word or Access file) I can't do anything with it...ie can't copy/paste/save/move or create new documents, etc.

It takes me to an Microsoft Office Activation Wizard dialog box informing me that it has detected a significant change in my machines configuration and prompts me to insert the Microsoft Office XP Professional with Front Page CD to reactivate but I don't have the CD, the software came already installed on the system.

I'm not sure what was done wrong but is there anyway to restore it without having the CD? I tried 'System Restore' but it didn't fix the problem.

I use these programs all the time and really need to somehow get them back up and running.

    Thanks

Do you recommend I do the procedure again?...Do you think it would fix it?

It appears that the only resolve @ microsoft support is if you either have the CD to reinstall or you received your MS Office XP Pro through a valid network location, which I didn't.

Unfortunately, that doesn't help me much. Do you know of anyway I can rectify the situation? Do you think if I go through the malware/spyware purging process again that it will make a difference as far as getting this up and running or am I stuck being in this reduced functionality mode until I can locate a CD. Appreciate your impute.

Something you might try is start the Office Activation Wizard and when asked choose Activate Later .

You may have already reached the limit but try it anyway.

Doesn't give me a Activate Later option, only Next or Exit. If I click Next it wants me to install and run the CD. If I click Exit it opens the file but no changes or alterations can be made to it.

Somewhere in between the steps below you should see a Activate Later option, if not, it's not going to work.

    1. Start any Office program.
    2. In the Office Activation Wizard, click the Activate by using the Internet option, and then click Next.
    3. Read the Microsoft Office Privacy Policy page, and then click Next.
    4. On the Customer Information page, type your personal information.
